a tub, a cigarette, and a blank stare

my wife’s asleep in the other room
I’m lying on the couch
completely uninspired
I get up and smoke in the bathroom
trying not to drop an ash on the floor
because once I awoke from a nap
to discover the bathroom rug on fire
I lifted it up
with smoke in my face,
threw it in the tub
and started the water
putting out the fire
tonight as I do nothing
but listen to the air conditioner
laying on the couch again after my smoke
I know I must’ve gotten thrown into a tub too
