September, thinking of spring
tonight
rather than
drive down the
boulevards
of businesses
i’ll never enter
i drive down
Hispanic streets
drunk with a
cigarette clenched
between my teeth
and as the smoke
burns my left eye
i see the pretty
purple and yellow
neon glowing lights
shine off the rain
on the windshield
like diamonds in
the nighttime darkness
and tomorrow morning
when I awaken
alive and full of breath
the sun will be
peaking through
the dust riddled curtains
like nothing happened
and I’ll forget it all.
